Profound vs Otterly vs Peec: Which Does a Local Business Need?

For most single-location local businesses, the honest answer is none of these three yet. Start with a free check to see if an AI assistant names you at all, and look at Profound, Otterly or Peec only if you run an agency or a brand with many locations.

PickCheck is a free AI recommendation checker for local service businesses, made by Hive Asset Group, LLC.

Disclosure: PickCheck is our tool, so we list it here. We tried to be fair to the others.

Profound, Otterly.AI and Peec AI are tools that track how brands show up in AI answers. They are good tools. They are built mostly for marketing teams that watch many search terms over time.

A plumber in Prior Lake usually has one question: "If someone asks an AI for the best plumber near me, does it say my name?" You can answer that without a paid plan. Below we show what each tool does and who it fits. We also list our own free scan, and we say it is ours.

"Engines" are what each vendor says on its own site, checked October 18 to 19, 2026. We have not tested their accuracy.

Profound

Profound calls itself an AI marketing platform. It shows how brands appear in AI answers and has an AI Marketer tool for research and content. Its site says it is for marketing teams and larger companies. It offers a free 7-day trial that runs 50 prompts a day, and Enterprise plans are custom, so you talk to sales. It is the better pick when you have a big team, many brands, or need wide engine coverage and workflow tools. For one shop, it is likely more than you need.

Otterly.AI

Otterly.AI is a monitoring tool for AI search. It tracks your brand, links and sentiment across ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot. Other engines can be added for an extra fee. Plans start at $29 per month for 15 prompts (Standard is $189 for 100 prompts, Premium $489 for 400), and there is a free trial. It is the better pick for a small team or agency that wants steady reports at a lower starting price. Check otterly.ai/pricing for today's numbers.

Peec AI

Peec AI tracks how brands show up in AI answers, with a focus on marketing teams and agencies. Its pricing page shows Starter at $95 a month for 50 prompts, Pro at $245 for 150 prompts and Advanced at $495 for 350 prompts, with unlimited users on every plan and a free trial option. Enterprise is custom. It is the better pick for an SEO or marketing team that wants to track many prompts across many countries or projects.

Which one should you pick?

You own one shop (plumber, dentist, HVAC, lawyer). Pick none of the three for now. Run the free scan first. If it shows you are missing, the $29 Fix Kit gives you a to-do list. If you want ongoing checks, Monitor is $19 per month. If you later want deep reports, Otterly's low plan is the closest step up.

You are an agency with 10 or more local clients. Look at Otterly or Peec first. Both are built for many prompts and shareable reports. Profound fits if you need wide engine coverage and have budget for a custom quote. Try the free trials side by side with the same 10 prompts.

You run a multi-location brand. Profound or Peec are the better fit, since you track many locations, many prompts and a team. Ask each for a trial and a quote. A free scan is still a fast way to spot-check one location.

Free. About 30 seconds. We test one web-connected AI assistant, so treat the result as a snapshot, not a ranking across every AI.

FAQ

Do I need Profound, Otterly or Peec for a single-location business?

Most likely not yet. These tools are built for teams that track many prompts over time. Start with a free check to see if an AI assistant names you. If it does not, fix the basics first, then decide on a paid tool.

Which of the three is the cheapest?

Based on listed prices, Otterly.AI starts lowest at $29 per month for its Lite plan (15 prompts). Peec AI starts at $95 per month for Starter (50 prompts). Profound shows no public price. Prices change, so confirm on each site.

Which AI engines do these tools cover?

Each vendor lists its own set. Profound's trial lists ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews, and Enterprise covers up to 9 engines. Otterly lists ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot, with Gemini, Claude and AI Mode as add-ons. Peec lets you choose 3 models per plan from a longer list. These are vendor claims.

Which AI assistant does the free PickCheck scan use?

It tests one web-connected AI assistant. It does not test ChatGPT, Gemini or Perplexity by name. Other assistants may answer differently, so the scan shows one snapshot.

Is this page a fair comparison if PickCheck is your tool?

We tried to be fair. PickCheck is our tool, and we marked it that way in the table. We link to each vendor's own pages in the sources, and you should check current prices there.
